Position Title: Electrical Designer Engineering

Reports to:Engineering Governance & Technical Stewardship Superintendent

Employment Type: Short – Term 6 months position

Open to Only Residents in Mozambique

Age Up to 35 years old

Location Maputo Province – Mozambique

  •  Maintenance.
  • Asset Management Principals.

External Reporting / Key Relationships

  •  Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM).
  • Contracting partners.
  • Engineering and technical consultants.

PURPOSE Describe the intent of this position

Supports the design, development, and implementation of electrical systems within our aluminium smelter plant.

He/she plays a crucial role in ensuring the successful execution of design deliverables, adhering to project schedules, and maintaining the high safety and quality standards of the company.Page 2 of 3

ACCOUNTABILITIES

Leadership

  •  Deliver “We all guarantee everyone goes home safe and well” through creating a culture of care and accountability as an enabler to continuously learn and improve;
  • Ensure all work is well designed and guaranteed to deliver safe outcomes;
  • Ensure that material risks are identified, and related critical controls are implemented and are effective;
  • Build and maintain working relationships with key stakeholders, i.e., Operations Superintendents, Supervisors, Engineers and Maintainers.

Technical support

  • Perform design calculations and develop electrical systems, schematics, and layouts for aluminium smelter plant projects;
  • Collaborate with Electrical Engineers, Instrumentation Engineers, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure successful project delivery;
  • Produce detailed electrical design drawings, including wiring diagrams, power distribution, motor control centres, and instrumentation systems;
  •  Review and interpret technical specifications, codes, and standards to ensure compliance withindustry practices;
  • Ensure safety in design, particularly for high-voltage systems and hazardous areas within the smelter;
  •  Provide technical input during project planning, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases;
  •  Identify and implement design improvements and innovations to enhance system reliability and efficiency;
  • Assist in the integration of emerging technologies and best practices into project designs;
  • Ensure all relevant change control documentation are updated to “as-built” status.Page 3 of 3

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Qualification/s Required

  • Relevant Degree in Electrical Engineering.

Technical/Specialist Skills

Required

  • Proficiency in electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD, EPLAN, or similar tools);
  • Strong knowledge of electrical standards, regulations, and codes (e.g., SANS, IEC, NEC, etc.);
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail;
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team;
  • Fluent in Portuguese and English.

Experience

  • Minimum of 10-15 years of experience as an Electrical Designer, with at least 5 years in heavy industrial projects, preferably in aluminium smelters or related industries;
  • Experience with high-voltage systems, power distribution, and instrumentation design.
