Position Title : HEAD OF ACCOUNTS

JOB SUMMARY
The Head of Finance will be responsible for managing all accounting and financial operations.
This role involves overseeing financial reporting, budgeting, compliance, and strategic financial planning. The ideal candidate will ensure the company’s financial health, compliance with regulatory requirements, and alignment with business objectives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare, analyse, and present accurate financial statements, including profit and loss accounts, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting processes.
- Develop and monitor budgets, forecasts, and financial plans to support business objectives.
- Conduct variance analysis and provide actionable insights to management.
- Manage day-to-day accounting tasks, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger maintenance.
- Ensure timely and accurate reconciliation of bank accounts and other financial records.
- Maintain and update the company’s accounting systems and processes to ensure efficiency and accuracy.
- Ensure compliance with local tax laws, regulations, and reporting requirements.
- Prepare and file tax returns, including IVA, corporate tax, and other statutory filings.
- Liaise with tax authorities and external auditors as required.
- Stay updated on changes in tax laws and accounting standards to ensure compliance.
- Develop and implement robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and prevent fraud.
- Conduct regular audits and reviews to ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures.
- Identify financial risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Supervise and mentor the accounting team, ensuring their professional development.
- Collaborate with other departments to provide financial guidance and support.
- Act as a key point of contact for external stakeholders, including auditors, banks, and regulatory bodies.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Education and Certification
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Master’s degree is a plus).
- Chartered Accountant (CA) certification is mandatory.
Experience
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in accounting and financial management, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial company.
- Proven experience in managing financial operations, reporting, and compliance.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in accounting software (PRIMAVERA QuickBooks, or similar ERP systems).
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other financial analysis tools.
- Strong understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and local accounting standards.
- Fluent in English and Portuguese.
