Main Purpose:
Key player responsible to complete operations at the terminal tank farm.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities, Key Responsibilities:
1. Health/safety/Environment/Security
- Responsible for his own safety and accident prevention.
- Must revise his work area for potential risks.
- Report all risk to line manager.
- Report all accidents to the supervisor.
- Know and follow the company’s safety policy.Understand and follow the environmental policy to complete operations safely on all facilities under their responsibility by following established procedures (Tank Farm, Loading rack, Manifold, Docks).
- To follow safety program by carrying out programmed inspections, report unsafe acts/conditions,
- Participate weekly in safety meetings with their teammates and Supervisors.
- Carry out inspections for operation, safety, security, and environmental objectives, for example dike, operational safety equipment, security structures.
- Report through the accurate channels any accidents / incidents that I may be made aware or observed.
- Complete pre-use inspection for equipment in the applicable formats (when applicable).
- To complete all tasks related to product quality (sampling, documenting, reporting, housekeeping)
- Actively participate in emergency response activities to support compliance with safety, security and environmental policies and procedures, including preparedness drills and discussions (as scheduled).
- Assure all visitors and drivers follow terminal procedures.
- Participate in the Review of Operating procedures, including Normal, Critical and Emergency procedures.
- Be a key player in the work permits program, according to SAPS requirements and credentials/responsibilities.
- Ensure accurate use of air control devices like VCU, floating roof tanks and others.
- Follow drainage procedures for storm water from dike areas to ensure environmental compliance with water discharge requirements.
- Assist in containing any hydrocarbon release to ensure protection of water, soil and air resources.
- Assist in detailing fuel consumption of internal combustion equipment to optimize fuel usage. Report operational problems to ensure that equipment is accurately maintain to its most efficient operation.
- Follow procedures when handling waste (garbage, contact water, used oil, etc.) to support environmental compliance.
- Follow operational, safety and environmental procedures when handling chemicals and other materials. Use information from Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and/or danger signs that alert to the presence of asbestos, lead, or other contaminants in materials.
2. Reliability/Maintenance
- Ensures Equipment operates within Operating envelopes and are closely followed during their shift.
- Prepares Work Orders including those for Emergency work.
Responsible for:
- Vessel unloading/loading activities.
- Handling product additives (receipt/transfer) such as dyes, lubricity, conductivity, and others.
- The accurate operation of dikes and Storm water.
- The perimeter and terminal fence inspection.
- Housekeeping of work areas
- Collaborate and assist to train on the job to Junior Operators
3. Personnel and Training
- Annual HAZWOPER training.
- Annual Safety Review participation.
- Complete HSSE and operational. trainings assigned by company.
4. Internal Controls (IC)
- Ensure that all control requirements (USCG, IC, API/local regulations) are applied consistently in areas of work.
- Accountable to detail all pre-use inspections.
- Accountable to carry out the Business Continuity Plans with their respective supervisor.
5. Others
- Assists in the development of Management of Change documents, acting as a Process guide in their review.
- Valid Driver license.
- Willing to work in shifts.
- Requirements / Experience.
- High School Diploma.
- 2 years minimum experience in handling of fuel (preferably).
- Ability to read and write English at medium level is desired.
